Overview
概覽

As one of the oldest districts in Hong Kong, Yuen Long District is home to a rich heritage of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including indigenous inhabitants of the New Territories and a large number of immigrants. This exhibition will mainly focus on three places in Yuen Long: Ha Wan Tsuen, Chau Tau Tsuen, Ping Shan Heung, Shap Pat Heung (Shan Ha Tsuen). Combining photos and oral history, we will tell the story of Yuen Long's past: history, clans, festivals, customs and traditional food. Visitors will learn about Hong Kong's traditional clan culture through the day of the Tang Clan's Spring and Autumn Ancestral Worship of Clans, understand the spirit of intangible heritage through the details of Hakka tea-cake making, and experience the tolerance of immigrants through the sound of fireworks at Lok Ma Chau...... We hope to convey to the audience the most traditional, historic and daily customs and culinary culture of Yuen Long district.
