Tang Clan in Ping Shan 圍村文化-屏山鄧族
Do you know which are the “Five Great Clans of the New Territories”?
There are a lot of Hongkongers whose family roots trace back to ancestors who moved down from mainland China. Among these are the Five Great Clans of the New Territories: five families that settled early into Hong Kong, and became sizable in the New Territories area. These lineages are the Tang, the Man, the Hau, the Pang, and the Liu. The Ping Shan Tangs is a branch of the Tang clan in the New Territories.
The History of Tang Clans
Deng Hanfu (Tang is the Cantonese version of Deng) was originally from Jiangxi Province. He settled in Kam Tin in the sixth year of the Kai Bao (973 AD, The Northern Song dynasty) and is the ancestor of the Tang clan in Guangdong. Tang clan lived in Kam Tin, until the seventh ancestor separated from each other.In the 12th century, Tang Yuanzhen, the seventh ancestor of the Tang clan, moved from Kam Tin to Ping Shan. So he is recard as the first ancestor of the Ping Shan Tang clan.
After settling in Ping Shan, the Tang clan established villages and built many traditional Chinese buildings, such as ancestral halls, temples, study halls and ancient pagodas to worship their ancestors, unite the community and educate their descendants.

鄧族歷史
鄧族的歷史源遠流長，其八十六世祖鄧漢黻於北宋初由江西省遷居廣東省。北宋中期，鄧漢黻曾孫鄧符協擴建岑田（即今錦田）祖居。至十二世紀，第七世祖鄧元禎與其獨子鄧從光遷居屏山。
鄧族定居屏山後，先後建立了「三圍六村」，並興建多所傳統中式建築如祠堂、廟宇、書室及古塔等，作為供奉祖先、團聚族群及教育後人之用；又傳承不少傳統習俗，例如各項節慶儀式。這些不但象徵鄧族的民俗文化，同時亦反映新界的傳統風貌。
Ping Shan Heritage Trail 屏山文物徑
As the first heritage trial in Hong Kong, the Ping Shan Heritage Trail was inaugurated on 12 December 1993. Stretching about 1.6 km, the trail meanders through Hang Mei Tsuen, Hang Tau Tsuen, and Sheung Cheung Wai. (Three villages around the trail) It has become a famous site in Yuen Long District.
位於新界元朗的屏山文物徑是香港首條文物徑，於1993年12月12日開幕，長約1.6公里，位於坑尾村、坑頭村和上璋圍之間。它的成立收到屏山鄧族的支持，現今已成為元朗的著名旅遊景點之一。
