Che Kung Temple 車公廟
Going to Sha Tin Che Kung Temple is one of the Chinese New Year activities in Hong Kong. However, why is there such a folk activity held every year? This relates to the reasons for building the temple.
到沙田車公廟是香港其中一個農曆新年活動。可是為什麼每年都有這樣的民間活動呢？這與建廟的原因有關。

Reasons of Temple Establishment
There are two sayings of the reasons for temple establishment:
Firstly, Che Kung not only was a loyal general of the Southern Song Dynasty, but also had healing power. The construction of the temple as a gesture of gratitude for his role in eliminating the plague in the area is a testament to his importance.
Secondly, due to the great Feng Shui of Tin Sum village, which is the rivers’ concentration, building a temple could bring good luck for them. Hence, the temple was built.
建廟原因
關於建廟的原因有兩種說法：
首先，車公不僅為南宋忠義的武將，且擁有治癒疾病的能力。由於車公的雕像在沙田繞村巡遊後，當時的瘟疫瞬間被消除。爲表謝意，村民興建了此廟宇。第二，由於田心村的風水好，是河流的集中地，建廟可為他們帶來好運。 因此，建造了這座寺廟。
Che Kung Festival
According to the Lunar calendar, Che Kung Festival, an intangible cultural heritage, is held annually on the second day of the first month, the 27th day of the third month, the 6th day of the sixth month and the 16th day of the eighth month respectively. Instead of the second day of the first month, people usually go to Che Kung Temple on the third day since this can avoid having quarrels with others.
車公誕
按照農曆，車公誕這非物質文化遺產每年分別在正月初二，三月二十七日，六月初六及八月十六日舉行。人們通常不在正月初二，而是在初三才到車公廟，因為這樣可以避免赤口。
Ways of Celebration
Spinning wind-wheel and “Kau Chim” are the main activities. It is because people believe that these can change their fortune in the upcoming year.
慶祝的方法
轉風車和求簽是最主要的活動。因為人們相信這些行為可以改變來年的運勢。
