Architectural features
Impluvium-type
Wo Che Estate contains five different building styles, and the history of structural modifications in the structures can be witnessed there. One of the most well-known designs for public housing among them is the twin tower. People typically refer to it as impluvium-type public housing because of the impluvium in the middle of the structure. In 2016, the movie “Weed on Fire” was filmed at the twin tower in Wo Che Estate.
Cooked Food Kiosk
In the public housing estates in Hong Kong, there is a special restaurant called Cooked Food Kiosk that represents the local cuisine. Hong Kong citizens refer to it as “Dung Gu Ting'' because of the mushroom-shaped roof. One of the operating Cooked Food Kiosks in Hong Kong is in Wo Che Estate. To improve the environment of the Dung Gu Ting, it was rebuilt in 2018. Less than 25 Dung Gu Ting remain as a result of the Housing Department's decision to discontinue creating prepared food stalls in public housing estates in the 1990s.
