Speaking of Wan Chai District, you may immediately associate its prosperous and modern side, such as commercial activities inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bars and restaurants in Lockhart Road and Hong Kong Arts Centre which promotes modern art, an area that integrates business, entertainment and culture. Among the rapid development, we can still find the historical footprints of old Wan Chai under the surrounding of modern skyscrapers, and experience the unique charm of the old and new intertwined in the area. This exhibition aims to explore the Chinese community in Wan Chai in the past and present from the perspective of historical buildings and customs which consists of four parts including history, commercial and residential buildings, religious architecture and customs. By introducing the history and transformation of Wan Chai, discussing the conservation and revitalization of Tang Lou, and the inheritance of religious beliefs and customs in coastal areas, to construct the appearance of Wan Chai in the past and demonstrate the community culture of Chinese. We hope to create a diverse cultural experience through exhibitions, workshops and cultural tours to provide a platform for teachers, students and the public to explore and understand the culture of the Chinese community in Wan Chai.

     提起灣仔區，大家第一時間可能聯想到其繁華及現代化的一面，有國際性的會議展覽中心、酒吧餐館林立的駱克道、推廣現代藝術的藝術中心等等，集商業、娛樂及文化於一身的地區。在急速的發展下，我們仍可以在高樓聳立之中尋覓舊灣仔的歷史足跡，體驗區內新舊交織並存的獨特魅力。本次展覽旨在從歷史建築及民間習俗探討今昔灣仔的華人社區，以歷史、生活建築、宗教建築及民間習俗四個部分組成，透過介紹灣仔地區歷史及轉變、探討唐樓保育及活化、沿海地區的宗教信仰及習俗的傳承，藉此建構昔日灣仔面貌及重現華人的社區文化。我們希望透過展覽、工作坊及旅遊路線營造多元的文化體驗，為本校師生和公眾提供一個探索和了解灣仔華人社區文化的平台。
